Gurelan at MetalMadrid 2022: strengthening the presence in the Spanish market

Gurelan took part in MetalMadrid, the leading trade fair in the metal industry where the latest developments are showcased: machinery, outsourcing, services, engineering, materials and treatments... This is the largest event in Spain focused on industrial innovation, automation and robotics, taking place at a key moment owing to the prevailing uncertainty in the international arena. For an export-oriented company such as Gurelan, participating in this fair builds part of the strategy to expand into the Spanish market for Zamak and Magnesium castings.

Gurelan at MetalMadrid 2022: strengthening the presence in the Spanish market

Crowded halls, well attended stands, hundreds of exhibitors and lots of commercial activity: this is how we lived MetalMadrid 2022. On 19 and 20 October, Gurelan’s team travelled to Madrid to take part in Advanced Manufacturing Madrid, a large trade fair that includes three top-level events such as MetalMadrid, Composites Madrid and Robomática.

For Gurelan, MetalMadrid is a leading trade fair for the industrial community when it comes to manufacturing, machining and metal processing, providing an excellent meeting point for knowledge for the entire industry, as it creates fundamental synergies between different innovative areas for the future, such as content for the automotive 4.0 industry, energy and sustainability, surface treatment, robotics, composites and plastics.

MetalMadrid brings together the main players in the Spanish metal market

Gurelan is a company manufacturing die-cast Zamak and Magnesium parts, and mainly oriented to export for first level customers and manufacturers throughout Europe and the world. In these times, when it becomes more complicated to access new markets abroad, the quality of Gurelan and its competitiveness resulting from efficiency in the production of die-cast parts, together with its great experience, places this specialised firm as a solid choice for the Spanish market.

In this regard, MetalMadrid offers the ideal platform: it is the actual meeting and business point that brings together the entire manufacturing industry thanks to the union of these three events, where specialised professionals from multiple sectors share experiences and knowledge in different areas of application, providing solutions to improve the entire metal value chain.

Reinforcement of Gurelan’s domestic presence at MetalMadrid

The presence of Gurelan at MetalMadrid 2022 is therefore part of the strategy to strengthen interactions with the Spanish industrial environment and increase its presence in this market.

At this 14th edition of Advanced Manufacturing Madrid, the Spanish capital became the centre of industrial innovation, where more than 600 companies and 12,600 visitors gathered (the highest number in its fourteen years, illustrating the relevance of the three different trade fairs in their respective fields) at IFEMA, a facility that has once again been recognised for the third time as the Best Convention Centre in Europe at the World MICE Awards.

Innovation, digital technology and sustainability: the guidelines for MetalMadrid

This year’s edition of MetalMadrid is more marked than ever by two fundamental challenges for the metal industry: the imperative of technological innovation and the transformation towards sustainability. The two major challenges that any company in the industrial field has to address in the coming years, in addition to other important issues such as the employment of the future and the competitiveness of our industrial network.

Gurelan came back from IMTS Chicago with new business opportunities, and on this occasion the team also returns with a feeling of satisfaction as a result of the great attendance of visitors, and thanks to the commercial and industrial networking that took place within the framework of the exhibition. In addition, having ‘three events in one’ (MetalMadrid, Composites Madrid and Robomática) is also very positive for highly specialised companies such as Zamak and Magnesium die casting manufacturers. This meant that the Gurelan stand was visited by a different public than usual.

MetalMadrid: a tradeshow aimed at defining the future of the metal industry

Three main trends were observed at MetalMadrid and its associated trade fairs this year. Number one, the rise of Customer to Manufacturer business models, where the increasing trend is to reduce the number of intermediaries. The second is sustainability, which is one of the major global concerns. Finally, we will have to deal with the reinvention of the supply chain, with smart warehouses becoming more frequent, the rise of online commerce and the logistical challenges involved. On the other hand, the metal industry will undoubtedly evolve hand in hand with technology. Automation, blockchain technology and the internet are three examples that will mark a turning point in the metal sector.

Last but not least, with regard to this year’s new features, it is worth highlighting the Advanced Manufacturing Awards, which aim to highlight Spanish companies that innovate on a daily basis offering solutions to improve the different stages of the industrial process value chain, making them more efficient, sustainable and connected.
